Wow, what a cool shirt! Now why couldn't he wear this shirt more often instead of that awful pink thing? (Unlike some other people, I actually rather liked his green blazer & black shirt ensemble.) What also attracted me to this cel was the intense look on Mamoru's face and the way his hair falls over his forehead-- pretty, pretty! So I was rather disappointed when the cel arrived and I found black specks all over his face. Sloppy, sloppy Toei! The paint is either strayed flecks from his hair or the Toei line-copier machine really, really, really needed to be cleaned!
I later found that this comes from episode 110, the pivotal S season episode for me, where the talismans make their first appearance. Mamoru & Chibi Usa are talking on the street when Chibi Usa senses Pluto nearby. So I'm happy with the cel again.  The colors in real life are much more gorgeous and creamier. My scanner seems to like to darken and warp purples and skin-tones quite a bit.
The matching pencil sketch is seriously stuck to the cel, unfortunately facing inwards, so I was unable to scan it. |
