Nice to meet you, Cream Stew! Oi, c'mon, could I have said anything else?

Yes, this is a cel from that infamous moment when the drunken Usagi babbles incomprehensible English at the formal party and then out pops "Nice to meet you, cream stew!"

Ah, the memories that brings back! I love this episode, it's Sailor Moon S 108, Usagi no dance he waltz ni notte-- and I actually remember the dub name for this one! Everything is Coming Up Rosy ! There was definately an oldies song fan naming the S & SS Cwi episodes. Anyway, as I said, I really love this episode; it's one of my all-time favorites, in fact. The episode is pure fluff-- but it's such funny fluff! It's still pretty funny in the dub as well, with French taking the place of English and egg soufle taking over from cream stew. More details ahead, just highlight the black space.

In this episode Mamoru's English friend invites him and the girls over for a very formal party at his mansion. Everyone assumes that the guests will speak English, so the girls go crazy trying to bulk up on their foreign language skills. There's this hilarious part where Usagi goes schizo, gleefully shouting "Party with Mamo-chan!" and then whimpering "But... english!" "Party with Mamo-chan!" "But... english!" "Party with Mamo-chan!" "But---" Finally the day of the big party arrives and Usagi sneaks off by herself to get in a few last peeps at her English-Japanese (or rather Eigo-Nihongo ) dictionary. (She hasn't noticed at this point that everyone was speaking Japanese, even the foreign guests.) All the studying has made her very thirsty so she gulps down a glass of something highly alcoholic.

Usagi then proceeds to burst into some kind of philosophical conversation Mamoru was having with some of his friends and begins spouting about making pudding. The others think she's using some kind of clever metaphor and one of the guys begins to enthusiastically greet her. My cel comes from when they're pumping their arms up and down and Usagi is blathering those priceless words. And then the episode gets even better, but I won't spoil it further.

My cel is the D-8 layer which I managed to snag from Anime Paradise. I had actually previously seen another layer (whether it was the A, B, or C layer I'm unsure) at Anime Pavilion of the kawaii face-faulting Mamoru watching Usagi making a fool of herself as Ami hangs unto his arm and tries to console him. However, the cel was kinda pricey at $50 and I was broke at the time. A few weeks later I noticed that Anime Paradise seemed to have the matching Usagi & miscellaneous foreign guy (he probably has a real name in the anime ) layer. While I was trying to decide if I could afford both layers both websites to Paradise & Pavilion went down. Paradise came back up a few months layer and I hurriedly ordered the cel but the cel section of Pavilion has yet to reappear, unfortunately. If anyone knows where I might pick up a matching layer to my cel please drop me a line.

The cel also came with a non-matching sketch of someone's chin & mouth which I didn't bother to scan in.

And once again, the colors in the scan are slightly off.
